Machine: HP Server with Broadcom NetXtreme Processor: XEON Memory: 2 GB Partitions: not yet Output of lspci -knn (or lspci -nn): not available Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot: [ ] Detect network card: [ ] Configure network: [X] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [ ] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Clock/timezone setup: [ ] User/password setup: [ ] Install tasks: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Overall install: [ ] Comments/Problems: The Installer cannot inititialize the Broadcom NetXtreme LAN adapter because the missing firmware bnx2-06-4.0.5.fw is non-free and not available in the standard Debian Repository (or on the Netinstall-CD). I did download the firmware from somewhere , untared it and placed it to the root and to the directory /firmware on an USB-Stick in different ways (placing the whole unpacked stuff there or placing the file itself there) - with no success: The installer doesn't find the firmware. I found, that the USB-Stick is not mounted automatically, so I mounted it manually to /media/usb0. Found that a good idea, but still no success.
