Some further details. IA64 Wheezy.
The problem is the El-Torito header on the Debian netinst CD.
The dumpet tool of Fedora shows that the load size is 4 blocks only -
what can't be the right value on EFI.
The EFI boot image is present on the CD; it is in the boot directory
of the CD.
I could generate a new iso image that boots on my Itanium computer.
I used a Fedora 17 i386 on another computer for that.
1. Copy the contents of the Debian netinst CD in a working directory
~/work_dir.
2. Create a new iso image
mkisofs -r -v -b boot/boot.img -c boot/boot.catalog -no-emul-boot
-boot-load-size 16384 -o debian-wheezy-DI-a1-ia64-netinst-fixed.iso
~/work
(Debian uses genisoimage instead of mkisofs.)
3. Burn that iso image and boot it on your Itanium computer.
I guess the other iso images for IA64 are broken in similar manner.
Kind regards
Stephan Schreiber
