Hi,
is it normal that /dev/ufsid is sometimes empty? I'm sure I saw
character devices in it at some point but that no longer seems to be
the case. I looked briefly at kernel source just to see that the
"ufsid" name indeed comes from there.

Yes, why isn’t that default anyway? It is on most systems I know
(although, some don’t use vt7 but 4).

for what is worth: I can confirm that this makes the KDM login reliab
This bug is a real hurdle for KDE on kfreebsd-* as it enforces a manual X
restart by the user at every reboot. (Rising the kdmrc ServerTimeout as
mentioned in various places doesn't help either).
kFreeBSD porters: could you please take a look at that ?
