have been captured from the display of my aspire one laptop that boots
debian kfreebsd-i386 squeeze from a USB flash drive.
As you can see, the kernel does not

but I'm not ok with unreliable bootup :-)

set kFreeBSD.kern.cam.scsi_delay=15000
