Package: ncurses
Version: 5.9+20150516-2
Severity: wishlist

Hello!

I'm planning on switching src:util-linux from using slang to using
ncurses(w), since that is the upstream recommended and supported
build option.

Since util-linux builds tools used by the debian installer and thus
provides udebs, all dependencies will also need to provide udebs.

Thus, please provide an udeb for libncursesw5 (and in turn libtinfo5).

Apart from the added packages which means you'll need to go through
the NEW queue, the added overhead is the maintenance of a shlibs file
(as udebs does not handle debian/*.symbols) which needs the mentioned
version bumped every time a change is done to the corresponding symbols
file. Except from a few special fields in debian/control the only real
difference between the real package and the udeb is that you drop
usr/share/doc from the package content.

I'd like to move forward on this as soon as possible.
If you'd like me to provide patches, please tell me!

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson

Hello.

As previously discussed and now actually happened, the cfdisk-udeb
has been removed.
I'm closing this wishlist bug report for now as it looks like
we will not need the libncursesw5 udeb for now....

Andreas Henriksson
