The package Makefile install put the file in the right place
(/usr/share/pixmaps) already, the debian/rules script moved it in under
/usr/X11R6/...
The attached patch removes the lines from debian/rules and solves the
problem.

(On the other hand it
I straced the process and it happily stats the specified workers file,
but doesn't attempt to open it, which would explain why it complains if
you give it a non-existant file.
