I had already detected this problem on sarge, it appeared after a sarge update.
The solution to get sound is

Hi, Kurt,
I still have this process running on the buildd:
buildd3288 0.0 0.0 7904 1212 ?SN Mar20 0:00
../gen/firebird/bin/fb_lock_mgr
Which has it's cwd as:

retitle 415705 Found files opened in wrong application or not all (using KDE)
thanks
Not opening files at all justifies increasing severity to normal I think.

Hi Danilo,
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=294764
How is progress on this ITP ? Do you need a sponsor for an upload to
Debian? Or do no longer intend to work on this ITP ?

Bart Martens

Galeon depends on too many programs, including Nautilus and
Gnome-Session. After purging a few of the unneeded dependencies off of
my system I cleared out 80MB of programs. I consider 80MB to be a lot,
especially for someone on dial-up or DSL.

Ack. Automated guesses are always a possible source for problems, and in
this special case, the human behind the build process should know best
