I realised that the (mis)behaviour described in the report, vanished in
recent versions of nautilus / gnome. No idea with what version exactly,
but at least with 2.20.0-6 the formerly missing options in the context
menu are now there (and work as expected).

There seems to be an assumption here that this issue should be
resolved by a blacklist in alsa-base... but what about systems w/o
alsa-base? Servers that have no use for sound are also reporting this
potentially frightening (albeit benign) error message, but are
unlikely to have the alsa-base packa

the procedure had changed. To make sure, I invoked
chccwdev -d 0.0.0201
I figured that if the procedure had changed, chccwdev would know the new
way to get the device offline
