I had this problem as well when I upgraded to the latest version in
Testing (1.9.12-2). However, it seems to have been fixed in the
1.9.13-1, currently in Unstable. That version works for me.

texlive-bin won't compile against libpoppler 0.11 or later, attached is

Addendum.
Downgrading from xserver-xorg-core 2:1.6.4-1 to 2:1.6.3.901-1 fixes
the problem.
