LILO (there are some novelty hacks for GRUB but I haven't been able to test
them yet because this is in production). I have kernel-img.conf

i' and that works like I'd expect; the chroot is stopped and the system
keeps on running.

I should add that windows should *never* grab focus. It's clearly a
usability issue, and potentially a security issue, since you could be
typing a password just as said window steals focus.

It isn't possible to get a system beep in situations that would normally cause
a beep within a gnome-terminal. the beep command does work, and
