I have to work on this server again, and the console spam problem is
present again.
I removed nut 2.4.3-1.b1 & safe-upgraded to 2.4.3-1.1 and still no
change.
After multiple reboots with & without any other USB devices plugged in
there's no relief unless the UPS is disconnected.
I ve set two options in my kernel configuration:
CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=y
CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE_ROTATION=y
Now the system boots correctly with KMS switched on.

I just removed the spare and that didn't change anything. Otherwise the setup
is exactly the same. I did an aptitude update && upgrade first. So it is a
Squeeze system.
