Thanks for this very prompt answer.
Okay, there seems to be an issue on the origin of this problem...
I can confirm that this is a *very* recent issue (another machine, which
had had an update about 2-3 days ago, does not exhibit this problem ; on
my problematic machines, the problem did not appe

A NMU was prepared for an other RC bug in ethos but canceled
afterwards, possibly because of this (at that moment unfiled) FTBFS
bug.
If you mean my NMU to fix #640596 and #641871, then no. It was
cancelled because there was a maintainer upload with higher v

Hi,
I just looked at this, and it is totally nontrivial, as about
the entire code can exit(1) on error. Our best chance seems to
be to always exit(2) on error for _all_ subcommands (and glo-
bally) and then return 1 on diff differences.
I’ll accept patches ☺

This bug also affects the version in testing.
I have attatched a patch that fixes the issue (the issue appears to be a
name conflict, the patch just renames the union in question).

Hi!
The proposed patch doesn't actually solve the issue, it just degrades
compiler errors back to warnings.
