Not quite sure what that bug is about, but syslogd writes a pidfile
since busybox >= 1.6.0
/var/run/syslogd.pid
Later versions of busybox made the path configurable.
See CONFIG_PID_FILE_PATH in your .config in busybox >= 1.21.0

I can confirm that the problem affects testing and unstable. The
package is not in stable. I have commited a patch in SVN:

changed to Sudoku (copy&paste error) and I would point to the sources at
