Well basically udev is completely broken on sparc when compiled with
LTO and "gold" linker.
It's not an udev fault. Increasing rootdelay won't help because udev
built this way can't even parse it's command line.
The experiments has shown that building it with the bfd linker or
without LTO produce a working udev.

The things seem to go astray after failing to find /proc/vz
and it's really not there:

Please note that this bug was earlier filed against the 'kernel'
package (Bug#673320

and is resolved. Now there is a package
virtio-modules-3.2.0-2-sparc64-di , but it's still missing on the
sparc install media.
Other architectures (amd64, i686, ...) have these drivers, so it must
be safe to include them.
