thank you for your quick answer (not mine)! I read again the manual page of
approx and noticed i made a mistake in my client's sources.list so running apt-
get update on the client side finally made /var/cache/approx on the

I tried to use other dm and wm than gnome and noticed that gdm runs correctly
gnome (of course!) and xfce but not jwm and enlightment. When trying to run
jwm, I get ghost windows or menus when I close or move them. Running
