Daniel,
There's a package here:
http://people.debian.org/~costela/packages/
I'm not sure if it's appropriate to give the package to an XMPP group
since the software is not primarily XMPP-based.

So, I realize my previous email was too confrontational.
I guess what I'm saying is there are some tough issues; I'd like to get
them resolved; and it will take a number of people to do it.
Can we work together on this?

I don't know who you are, what other packages you're familiar with, and
why you want to take this on now.
You don't seem to have done any other Web or PHP packages. Is that true?
What's your familiarity with StatusNet?
I'd be happy to see you help out with the git project -- we need some
energy
I'm the upstream author and also a DD. I'd prefer to package this myself.

It _does_ hang indefinitely on the amd64 platform. I reported the bug
from the wrong computer (oops).
I think there are three problems:
1) running the test suite at install
2) that the test suite fails on amd64 machines
3) that the install program doesn't do anything intelligent if the test

The postinst script for this package runs a unit-test program,
fsftest+. This just freezes up with no feedback for the user.
I'm pretty sure unit tests don't belong in the postinst
script.

I'm seeing this same problem with Debian unstable, no backports or
what have you. All ELF binaries that I feel confident running (i.e., I
have some idea what they do) such as 'mysql', 'mysqladmin',
'mysqldump' have this problem.
