In /usr/lib/ssl/openssl.cnf I had
subjectAltName = ${ENV::ALTNAME}
because I need to generate certificates with subjectAltName but before I
started named I didn't set the environment variable.
I commented out the subjectAltName = ${ENV::ALTNAME} lines in openssl
config so bind9 works ok.

time slapd won't answer to any questions. The number of threads are
growing and the system load too.
If I wait more with the restart after slapd froze then I have more
threads op

The running environment is in a vmware-server 1.0.1.
I use slapd with tls to authenticate users.
After some weeks, days or even hours slapd suddenly stops working. It hangs
and the servers

So I had to downgrade too.
I use tls sasl with ldap...
