I have a problem that might be related: the hop limit is somehow set to
0, default is 64. This is on 2 different USB NICs.
To see if you have this problem:
# cat /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/eth0/hop_limit
0
To fix it temporarily:

In my case, the new versions (gringotts 1.2.8+1.2.9pre1-11, libgringotts1
