I'd like to withdraw this bug report.
It seems there were an old libcrypt library from libc which had not
been removed during an update.

My system has an Intel Atom D525 which has 2 cores and hyperthreading and here
powernowd only affect cpu0 and cpu2.
I had a quick look at the source and I think this problem has to do with

As Michael states; Playing embedded in a webpage works but as soon as
full-screen is activated there's a problem.
