/etc/udev/rules.d/z25_persistent-net.rules file is not recreated, and
the network interface comes up as eth0 on every reboot. There's still no

configuration ought to be able to handle this situation without manual
intervention. Whether this problem also affects PCI ethernet cards, I do
not know. It doesn't seem to be an issue with the kernel driver; if I

As the original report says, it is also necessary to change the
references in /etc/init.d/xdm and /etc/X11/default-display-manager from
"/usr/bin/X11/xdm" to "/usr/bin/xdm". It's hard to see how this problem
arose, because these files all come from the same package; t
like any other, but currently
this seems not to work. Perhaps the documentation could explain what
needs to be done to make this possible ("fsid=xxx"?), or if it is in
fact not possible for some reason, make this clear.
