Haha, I think I have the culprit : xserver-xorg-video-intel. It added a file /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf containing a line "options i915 modeset=1". Changing to modeset=0 or simply removing the file seems to fix the problem. Probably this bug can be closed or reassigned, but I'm not sure ho
