OK, my apologies. Since libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-1 worked for me with a
previous version of firefox and broke with 1.0

This bug is still present in Sarge and Sid and is 'live' in a default
desktop-system install of sarge.
The program gnome-volume-manager-gthumb, which is included in this
package, will not run (spits out an error "gthumb: command not found")
unless gthumb is installed. This suggests to me
