Package: dpkg
Version: 1.21.22
Severity: minor
File: /usr/bin/dpkg-deb

Dear Maintainer,

-- Package-specific info:
This system uses merged-usr-via-aliased-dirs, going behind dpkg's
back, breaking its core assumptions. This can cause silent file
overwrites and disappearances, and its general tools misbehavior.
See <https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Dpkg/FAQ#broken-usrmerge>.

With
vague@SEJA:~$ echo $LANG
sv_SE.UTF-8

'man dpkg-deb' and 'man dpkg', both show --vextract with wrong shortform
argument
           -x|--extract arkiv katalog
Extrahera filerna som finns i paketet.

           -C|--vextract arkiv katalog
Extrahera och visa filnamnen som finns i paketet.

Changing language with 'LANG=en man dpkg-deb' the shortform is correct
           -x, --extract archive directory
Extract the files contained by package.

           -X, --vextract archive directory
Extract and display the filenames contained by a package.

This can be confusing for users if they don't check 'dpkg-deb --help' and notice
the discrepancy

/Jari
