The samsung-laptop staging driver is now in the Debian 2.6.32 source.
However, it seems only to include a couple of models. Can this driver
be patched to include all models, so that it works in the same way as
the related http://code.google.com/p/easy-slow-down-manager/ ?
Cheers

This bug has come up on two different netbooks. The options in the kernel
configurations:
CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=y
CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE_ROTATION=y
are set.
The kernels are the latest 2.6.32 from Debian.

That sounds like an issue with your kernel. If you have trouble
If the problem I had was unrelated then I would have filed a separate
bug. However the problem I had was exactly as described and discussed
above.
I have found that the problem, certainly on my two netbooks, is that the
package now requires
CONFIG_DRM_I915_KMS=y
to be set.

I do not think this can be considered fixed yet. It is still a problem
for me in the latest version and it seems still to be not working for
others.

Mainly because that is where people seem to be looking for a solution!
Also because the firmware with 0.26 is identical with earlier firmware

is needed for a 64bit kernel. And because the messages I am getting are
