Sorry, I no longer have drive space available. I could try temporarily
with a live CD but the Debian live CD's are not built for PPC and some
searching shows no other PPC live CD's that look promising.

After some days of recompiling with debug symbols and stepping endlessly
through programs, I
have become fairly sure that this problem has nothing at all to do with
DirectFb. Sorry for the
noise. It just happened that I was inside DirectFB mostly when the crash
occurred, but after

I have downloaded and tested DirectFB examples and tutorials here:

Though some don't even compile (df_dok.c), many of them do compile and work.
Some hang afterward running, sometimes locking X completely so that it won't
