This bug is acknoleged but there's no signs of progress since March,
when you tagged it as "upstream". I couldn't find nothing upstream
indicating intentions of fixing this.

I would gladly do it, but I just found that my /var/log/dpkg.log was an
empty file... I enabeled logging, did an apt-get -f install, and the log
just says:
