Confirmed behaviour in up-to-date lenny installation. Interestingly,
this doesn't happen on my other lenny box. Perhaps something to do with

I just encountered this bug on lenny. For anyone who doesn't know, the
temporary work around for this is to update like this as root (or using
sudo):
aptitude update -o Acquire::PDiffs=false

I was typing something in another window when update manager stole focus,
meaning I dismissed whatever u-m was telling me. Very annoying. I have the
gconf setting:
% gconftool -g /apps/metacity/general/focus_new_windows
I should add that windows should *never* grab focus. It's clearly a
usability issue, and potentially a security issue, since you could be
typing a password just as said window steals focus.

I can confirm this bug. By killing kpilotDaemon once it's hung, you can
set Kpilot to use the /dev/ttyUSB* device that your Palm creates. Kpilot
can then sync with that.

Okay, so this bug is fixed in Debian unstable... great. The original bug is for
