I tried it today with sidux (a distribution of the Debian sid branch) and it
looks also fine in the kde environment: the status of away-users were visible
and the icon in the systray with a transparent background. They uses the
latest xchat-2.8.6.
Then I added the sid repository and installed
I installed now the fluxbox too, and the status of the user is now visible
(screenshot attached).
It seems that the problem only appears if xchat is running on a KDE desktop.
Since I used in both cases the same lenny and xchat installation and only
changed the window manager, the problem is
It seems to be a conflict to installed files of the nVidia driver.
I had installed the current version NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.05 and after a
sanity test it reports:
