Try to set session-wrapper in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf to the path of that script, then retry and report back. I've just tried that, it doesn't seem to change anything at all... I'm not sure if this is a bug or actually some kind of feature, but loggin in with gdm3 fixes the issue ---Maurizio
