I haven't investigated this very much, maybe this will be fixed with the new
hal-package, but right now (even with updated pmount), pmount-hal still
mounts devices with -o sync.

xine-lib in Debian (at least the current version 1.0-1 in Sid is
affacted) doesn't support SDL for Video-Output.
It's just missing libsdl1.2-dev (=1.1.5) in the debian/control (in
the Build-depends, of course).
