NB: thanks for the DomPDF hint. I created a related upstream issue:

The problems should not affect us as we do not publicly expose any of
the DomPDF files. We wrap it's functionality and render only carefully
escaped HTML, it is not allowed to fetch foreign

It would be great if the original behaviour could be restored
with Lenny. debian-sys-maint is really useful for many scripting
tasks - people using it for scripted tasks like create databases,
users and permissions shouldn't be forced to create one more super
user.

mysql-server-5.0.postinst should be changed to set correct permissions,
and preferrably also take care to fix permissions on upgrade on systems
with debian-sys-maint.
