#644668 was fixed in the 7.3.346 upload.
Sure. What I meant was that if it is indeed a regression from 7.3.333,
downgrading to 7.3.333 would not be a satisfactory solution, as #644668 would
reappear.

If I modify /usr/lib/ghc-doc/gen_contents_index to replace the path for
type-level, then it gets slow again (24 seconds vs. 2 seconds if type-level is
ignored).

I believe this bug is fixed by this commit in lhnb:

Hello,
I upgraded qt4 to 4.5.1-2 today and can confirm that this bug is finally
fixed.
Thanks,

. It specifically mentions setting
g:netrw_http_xcmd to -source if you want to see the source.
I do agree that this behavior is inconsistent, though, so I'll push back
on upstream to see if they'll make the default behavior consistent among
all the supported http commands.
Thanks.

the Legacy LCD filter is chosen. (Closes: #448555)
It uses the old hinting mechanism and looks somewhat better, but subpixel
rendering is off. This is still worse than qt3.

to be sure, I upgraded to qt 4.5 and
tried the lcdfilter setting they talk about in [1], but nothing changed. I'll
try to watch the thread.

I checked the udev init script delivered with the package, and the constructs
mentioned as being problematic in this bug report are still present.
Add set -x just after the shebang and paste what is the last command
executed.

into KDE (version 3) setting dialog and enabling hinting makes it
use hinting but disables subpixel rendering completely (and can't be enabled,
dunno why). Removing ~/.fonts.conf and xrdb settings it generated, qt3 looks
fine again and qt4 looks fucked again.
