For quite some time now, I haven't encountered this problem any more.
Moreover, the bug report in VirtualBox BT system claims that this is
already resolved somewhere around 2.x, which is already in Debian.

Package: virtualbox-ose

Severity: serious
There is some assertion failure in VirtualBox that is being outputed

/var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog.
This causes these files to grow very quickly untill
Package: virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6.26-1-amd64
Version: 2.6.26+1.6.2-dfsg-4
Severity: serious
The virtualbox-ose has been updated recently to version 1.6.6, but the
kernel-modules package for VBox (virtualbox-ose-modules) hasn't.
This makes VBox unusable - when trying to start a virtual machine,
I also don't have any problems with Iceweasel 3.0.1-1 on my Debian
Lenny/testing AMD64 system (unfortunately I don't know how to print
those useful system information that everyone here gave)

I've just looked on the list of the package bugs and found out that my
bug report is a duplicate of #495235.
Sorry for that - seems that I was too tired yesterday...

BTW. I've found a way to make pkg-config see the libgadu - I've just
changed the name of libgadu.pc into gadu.pc and pkg-config sees this

Ok. I've found out how to fix this:D
Just rename the /usr/lib/pkgconfig/libgadu.pc to
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/gadu.pc and just do
$pkg-config gadu --libs
instead of
$pkg-config libgadu --libs
when configuring the sources that depend on libgadu.
Don't know if this solution will be accepted upstream

Severity: important
While compiling kadu (upstrean svn-trunk source), which depends on
libgadu, I get an error that the libgadu is not present in the system
(kadu uses cmake, which uses pkg-config to check for needed deps).
