Note that I haven't found a way (yet) to reproduce this problem, so it's
quite hard to debug. The latter issue is (of course) the real show
stopper as at that point my users are no longer able to access the
machine until I issue another /etc/init.d/winbind restar
and add
SO_KEEPALIVE to the socket options, and this seems to fix the
problem (Although note that the exact same config didn't cause this
problem with samba 3.0.14a (from Sarge))

It's not a bug, it is more like how it's implemented in Linux (and I
think in other unix'es too) You can simply use the transparant-dnat
plugin to fix this. You can grab it from:

Debian Bug
cape this.
I think the correct behaviour should be that pam_mount simply ignores
any accounts that don't have a password (when use_first_pass is used).
Another solution could be that when pam_mount detects the mount
directory doesn't exist, it simply skips all checking etc.

In
s was caused by the fact the
dash doesn't understand that setting IFS=$'\n' means that the seperator
is EOL. Instead dash just sees it as IFS='n' . I think it's a bug,
although not sure...

I don't know whether this is either a bug in CUPS or a bug in Samba, but
my guess is that it should be fixed in CUPS because CUPS can decide when
a jobname is too long and if so cut(truncate) it to a correct length.
(of not please correct me).
