The good part:
On a new installed etch box pages printed from iceweasel look like expected.

Same story here, but as suggested in bug 364454
aptitude reinstall firefox-locale-de
revived the language support.
Maybe the postinst script of firefix should search
for language-packages and reinstall them. Overkill?

of the firefox printing also remains in -save-mode.
