I did some more testing:
I sent some messages to myself and they all ended up 'in duplo' in the target
mailbox (i.e. the mailbox the filter is supposed to move the message to).
When I next 'trash' the duplicate messages the trash mailbox only shows one,
single copy.

I am running gnome-shell 3.2.2.1 (64 bit) with mutter 3.2.2.1 and can
confirm this.
Mem use is about 60 MB after login and then steadily builds up (I've
seen 280 MB). After "Alt-F2 -> r" it's back to normal (60 MB).
Plain vanilla gnome, no extensions.

Moved on to Tunar 1.2.2 by now, but the problem is still there.
Not always though. Sometimes Thunar crashes, sometimes it behaves as
expected. (I have seen this with both 1.2.1 and 1.2.2).
But I can't for the life of me figure out what makes the difference...

But I have been able to install and run Debian on my system for some
time now. The 2.6.18 kernel was included in the daily builds many weeks
ago, and I have had no problems since.
