need to know which chip is build into their computer, to get the
correct Debian package name.

interpreted as the desired, but software can't decide this on the
information you've specified.
An additional problem is, that install_packages does not take the
order of classes into account, which worke
Since FAI 3.4.x work perfectly with lenny and squeeze it seems to be
an Ubuntu specific bug. Since FAI now also works in Ubuntu (maveric) it
seems to be a hardy only bug. Therefore we should close this bug.

The function NLSStringWidth is now paying attention to the return
value of wcwidth:

The script device2grub is not needed for grub2. In FAI we have the
class GRUB_PC which uses the script GRUB_PC/10-setup for setting up
grub2 configuration.
Also have a look at #604938 which fixes a problem in this script. FAI
will use grub-probe (instead of device2grub) for grub2.

I think a lot of FAI bugs break unrelated software, because most
functions in FAI are related to other software. But that does not
automatically means the bug is important. Otherwiese mostly all dpkg or
aptitude bugs must also be important, because they cause unrelated

I realized that after the rinse command is executed the nis domainname
is unset (or set to none). The ypbind processes are still running.

Setting the domainname back to its old value let nis running again.
So the problem seems that authconfig only clears the domainname.

On second throught, lately I got the crash only when I blanked my screen

If you write a hook to call debootstrap, you can skip the default task
by calling the skiptask function.
This way, we do not need to change FAI but you are very flexible in
what you like to do in your hooks.
I therefore like to close the bug, since I do not like to implement

ip= parameter (live-boot bug #616197). Since the bug of live-boot is

my impression is that we discus two different bugs here. The initial
bug report was about FAI not booting from LAN if an LVM volume exists
because dracut activates this volume and boots from it.
Then Andi and others talk about FAI booting CD but setup-storage

live-boot versions before 3.0~b have a bug which prevent fai-cd from

The bug fix for dracut bug #688956 makes the initrd non-world
readable. Since fai-make-nfsroot copies the initrd generated by dracut
inside the nfsroot into /srv/tftp/fai, the FAI install client cannot
load the initrd after the kernel

Source nfsroot.conf in prerm and write the value of $FAI_CONFIGDIR
into /var/run/fai-quickstart.variable, the source this file in postrm
and remove the directory and this file.

I think we should disable lvm inside the initrd of dracut. We can do
this by adding a file /etc/dracut.conf.d/fai with content:

It's important that this file is executable. This file could be

I wonder where this package was uploaded to. I can't find it.
We also have this problem, and IMO the security fix breaks the
package heavily. Shouldn't be a fixed version be available ASAP on
security.debian.org?

It's not a good idea to replace the logical OR with AND. But what
about supporrting both? This is an idea for a format in
package_config.
logical OR as before:
PACKAGES aptitude CLASSA CLASSB
new logical AND:
PACKAGES aptitude +AND CLASSA CLASSB
