This bug is known, and was fixed by upstream maintainers in cvs head
and deerpark branch, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=293307
for details.
Here is a backported patch for this bug:
diff -urN a/modules/libpr0n/src/imgLoader.cpp
b/modules/libpr0n/src/imgLoader.cpp
---
This bug most probably caused by bug in gcc's alias analysis, namely
http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=22591
which is still present in debian's gcc (4.0.1-2) but fixed in current
4.0 branch. There are at least two solutions: either wait for next debian
revision of gcc package or
and a possible solution here:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2005-April/012338.html
As this bug breaks the rsnapshot package feature wise in Sarge - which
is how I found out about it - I put the rsnapshot maintainer in carbon copy.

Please, add ability to change DIFF define (see ./include/dpkg.h.in) from
environment variable (DPKGDIFF, by example). I think, 'vimdiff -vo' is more
usefull and more suitable in many cases. With vimdiff I can overwiew changes
and quickly
Can the list quickly be activated?
Sincerely,

The problem goes away when using /bin/sh as the remote user's shell.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature, and if I should file a
separate bug report in this?

(I posted an update on this on rsync bug 158170; it was during
troubleshooting my problems with that bug, that I was experimenting with
the timeout option.)

AFAIK, this problem depends on msttcorefonts - if msttcorefonts is
installed, this rpoblem don;t exist.
Must we add msttcorefonts to Recommended section of openoffice.org-l10n-ru?

since I last did that, so I'm not sure if rsync got
upgraded at the time.
Then I noticed that there was a new version in Unstable: 2.6.4-1.
After installing this one, the problem went away. Note that I only
upgraded rsync on the 'pulling server', where I start the proces.
