Information on where the debian installer puts the installation logs after a successfull install is buried in the section 6.3.9. Troubleshooting. It's pretty hard to find out where the install logs are. At least if you're googling about or reading the installation guide. (The directory /var/log/installer/ is pretty self-explainatory but you have to look there.) I had planned to submit a patch with new index entries "logs, installation" and "installation logs". But there is no index. So I don't know the right way to fix this. I suppose the section heading could be changed to "Troubleshooting and Logging". But that seems clunky.
