I am not able to reproduce this, could you please show me your steps?
Here are mine:
1/ install fresh debian 11 VM;
2/ install mariadb-server (10.5.19);
3/ make sure it's started (sudo mariadb);
4/ sed bullseye/bookworm in sources.list
5/ upgrade (sudo apt upgrade);
6/ full-upgrade (sudo

Dear Maintainer,
after upgrade to bookworm, mariadb no longer starts, because the socket
directory
/run/myysqld does not exist.
this only happens when started via systemd. immediate reason is:
install: cannot change owner
