This is caused by this issue: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-calculator/-/issues/359 Basically, if the calculator can't get the new exchange rate data (possibly because of a VPN) it won't run. The workaround is to turn off Wi-Fi, run gnome-calculator, click on the hamburger menu in the up
