The version 3.6.8 is compatible with Python 3.12 that is now used in
experimental (and in Ubuntu 24.04). It would be lovely to be able to have
that version uploaded / supported.
I know little of the Debian process but am happy try and give a hand.

At some point, I tried to update to version 3.4.1, but got stuck with
some problems, which I don't remember. Very likely, they are fixed
upstream meanwhile. I don't have much time right now, and would
appreciate, if somebody else could (team) upload. Thanks!
