Package: dmsetup Version: 2:1.02.196-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
Thank you very much for maintaining Debian's dmsetup package. Please allow me to draw your attention to a possible improvement. It's very similar to one I just reported for the lvm2 package. Eidently they share the same source code. I humbly suggest reconciling where dmsetup writes its rule files 55-dm, 60-persistent-storage-dm and 95-dm-notify with where its hook script /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/dmsetup looks for them. As you can see below, lines 16 and 17 of the hook script look in a path starting with "/lib" [...] 16 elif [ -e /lib/udev/rules.d/$rules ]; then 17 cp -p /lib/udev/rules.d/$rules $DESTDIR/lib/udev/rules.d/ [...] But they are in a path starting with "/usr". You can see this is so by doing $ for f in /{etc,lib}/udev/rules.d/{55-dm.rules,60-persistent-storage-dm.rules,95-dm-notify.rules} ; do apt-file search "$f" ;done dmsetup: /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/55-dm.rules dmsetup: /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/60-persistent-storage-dm.rules dmsetup: /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/95-dm-notify.rules I seem to have worked around the problem by prefacing the paths in lines 16 and 17 in /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/dmsetup with "/usr", like 16 elif [ -e /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/$rules ]; then 17 cp -p /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/$rules $DESTDIR/lib/udev/rules.d/ but I dunno if there is an official path for rule files and suppose a compliant fix may depend on it.
