Package: dgit Version: 8.5 https://git.dgit.debian.org is unreliable. (This isn't dgit's fault.) Currently, users get a message like this:
$ dgit clone debvm canonical suite name for unstable is sid fetching existing git history fatal: Could not read from remote repository. Please make sure you have the correct access rights and the repository exists. dgit: failed command: git ls-remote -q --refs https://git.dgit.debian.org/debvm 'refs/tags/archive/debian/*' 'refs/tags/debian/*' refs/dgit/sid refs/dgit-rewrite/map dgit: error: subprocess failed with error exit status 128 $ It should maybe print something like this: It appears that the git repository repository https://git.dgit.debian.org/debvm is unreachable or broken. If dgit worked before for this distro (and therefore is properly configured), this probably means that your local network is broken, or the git server is malfunctioning. If you have push access, you may find that specifying --for-push works around the problem by using a different repo access method. To be useful, we'd maybe want to bnackport this change.
