When jabber.org (or any other ssl connection, msn for instance) fails in certain ways, gaim will attempt a ssl handshake, which will fail. this handshake is blocking, and can often take ~5 minutes to fail. the solution would be to thread or fork off this connection. we currently have no work in progress to do this.
