Hi,
you reported a bug of fetchmail failing to start on a woody->sarge
upgrade including strace output:
'open("/home/fetchmail/.fetchmail.pid", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_EXCL|O_SYNC,
0666) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)'
>From reading the source and past bugs one possible reason for this
could be a wrong passwd entry for the fetchmail user.
Please check your passwd and send us the output of
grep fetchmail /etc/passwd
A correct entry would look like this:
fetchmail:x:103:65534::/var/run/fetchmail:/bin/sh
