Package: kword Version: 1:1.3.5-2 Severity: important Many KDE applications including kword can not input text using immodule.
I realized this when I encountered problem testing unuploaded package (scim-qtimm) but this seems well known issues. I got info from AWASHIRO Ikuya as: > > Japanese input works but while input before [KAKUTEI](finalize) does > > not show up on screen. > This is known (KWord's) issue. Please read this mail: > http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/immodule-qt/2005-January/000690.html Quite informative comment. (Fix was in HEAD, not backported to KOFFICE_1_3_BRANCH) This is last November. > If you want to use kwords with immQt, Please read this article: > http://blog.goo.ne.jp/ikunya/e/2e468da0122e773d11ebdd152753bdca (This is japanese) Also this Japanese page http://slashdot.jp/~kzk/journal/ following link from above page was useful. In summary, they commited more fix to HEAD branch enen on 30-1-2004. http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-cvs&m=110709281228960&w=2 (This guy's commit has been fixing around immodules) So unless current HEAD is packaged for Debian, Many key KDE application seems to lack good CJK support. I am filing this bug report as a reminder since maintaner may not have noticed this important issues for CJK user. FYI: Gnome has been good for CJK. So KDE should be as well :-) -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages kword depends on: ii kdelibs4 4:3.3.2-1 KDE core libraries ii koffice-libs 1:1.3.5-2 common libraries and binaries for ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libaspell15 0.50.5-5 The GNU Aspell spell-checker runti ii libbz2-1.0 1.0.2-3 high-quality block-sorting file co ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libdps1 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 Display PostScript (DPS) client li ii libfam0c102 2.7.0-6 client library to control the FAM ii libfreetype6 2.1.7-2.3 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-7 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.6.1-3 The GLib library of C routines ii libgsf-1 1.11.1-1 Structured File Library - runtime ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libidn11 0.5.2-3 GNU libidn library, implementation ii libjasper-1.701-1 1.701.0-2 The JasPer JPEG-2000 runtime libra ii libjpeg62 6b-9 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii liblcms1 1.13-1 Color management library ii libmagick6 6:6.0.6.2-2.1 Image manipulation library ii libpaper1 1.1.14-3 Library for handling paper charact ii libpcre3 4.5-1.1 Perl 5 Compatible Regular Expressi ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-1 PNG library - runtime ii libqt3c102-mt 3:3.3.3-8 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System Session Management ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-7 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libtiff4 3.7.1-2 Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libwv2-1 0.2.2-1 a library for accessing Microsoft ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxml2 2.6.11-5 GNOME XML library ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxt6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Toolkit Intrinsics ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information -- ~\^o^/~~~ ~\^.^/~~~ ~\^*^/~~~ ~\^_^/~~~ ~\^+^/~~~ ~\^:^/~~~ ~\^v^/~~~ +++++ Osamu Aoki <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Brussels Belgium, GPG-key: A8061F32 .''`.
