When the problem occurs, the inodes and files opened are not even close
to the maximum... so we have to search elsewhere i guess...

Unfortunatly, i had tested for an hour and the problem didn't show up,
the problem is still there as i experienced it today.

I cannot reproduce the problem. Also, I don't see what do you mean by
resizing the system

When new mail is detected, the new-mail program is run by
mail-notification. But the new mail icon does not appear in the system
tray. When resizing the system tray, the icon becomes visible. I think
it is a question of refreshing
