Hi! I noticed the exact same problem today on amd64 testing/etch while writing my first python networking application and enabling daytime service to test it against. I tried rebuilding netkit with the suggested patch and that made the segfault dissapear, so I'm sending this mail to confirm the problem and solution since the bug hasn't been fixed/closed yet.
