I had exact same problem after updating from RH7.3 to FC1. The following fixed it for me:
/usr/bin/gtk-query-immodules-2.0 > /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules
/usr/bin/gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders
And this solved the problem... Probably this should be done when installing the package...
